How to create energy (when you feel you simply have none)

It's not enough to have great goals, great ambitions or the opportunity for great possibilities if we do not have the energy and the ability to take action and make it happen.

The problem is that sometimes, we just feel that there is no energy left. Perhaps you've been working all day, tending to the family, building relationships with friends, cooking, shopping, eating, driving - there is an endless list of things which fill up our day and consume our energy.

When tired and low on energy:

  • The easiest thing to do would be to sit down in front of the television, play on the internet, take a bath or go to bed.
  • The hardest thing to do is to find the energy to work on those goals, ambitions or opportunities which are important to you.

To take action and to make something happen - you need energy.

You need energy to drive you

  • You need energy to get started, and
  • You need energy to keep going

The same energy will help you build a relentless persistance to tackle problems and create solutions.

"I don't have the energy".

Oh dear. I have seen this excuse deprive talented people of amazing opportunities - and believe me, they never do find the energy - and all because they seem to be unwilling to realise the key to more energy.

The key to more energy

In order to get energy you need to first give energy.

In the same way a banker can invest money to create money - you can invest energy to create energy.

The energy to persist

Persistance is a great asset in the pursuit of success. Thomas Edison failed 1,000 times before he made the electric light.

We all face challenges and having an abundance of energy will help develop the type of relentless persistence to, just like Thomas Edison, 'keep on keeping on'.

Get charged

Get yourself charged by using a short aerobic exercise to get your blood pumping.

10-15 minutes of aerobic exercise with the healthy intake of fresh air will give you far more than any 'energy drink', coffee or caffeine tablet.

You need nothing more than a quick session of skipping or a short jog around the block. No specialist equipment, no gym needed and no room for excuses.

Avoid weight-lifting (or resistance training) for energy as this focuses on developing strength by overworking muscles, as this will leave you more tired.

Remember, your reason for the workout is not to push hard and overwork yourself - its to get yourself charged up and energised.

Nothing worthwhile comes easily

To take action and to make something happen - you need energy and the next time your body is low on energy but your mind is high on ambition, you can pick yourself up and go for a short run or enjoy a quick skip - you will soon find the extra energy that you need to help you act on those goals, ambitions and opportunities.

Just remember the principle of give and you shall receive.

Give a little energy and you will be surprised at just how much you get back.
